Monita Olivia is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Laboratory of Structural Engineering of the Department of Civil Engineering at Universitas Riau, where she has been a faculty member since 2001. She received a ST (Sarjana Teknik) from Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta in 1998, an MSc from UMIST, Manchester, United Kingdom in 2000, and a PhD in Civil Engineering from Curtin University, Perth, Australia in 2011. Her research interests lie in the area of Concrete Technology, ranging from geopolymer concrete, durability and use of sustainable waste in concrete. In the past three years (2015-2017), she was responsible to teach 6 subjects, such as Advanced Concrete Technology, Concrete and Construction Material and Research Methodology, for undergraduate and master students. She was able to complete 4 research grants (funded by DIKTI), 10 national and international conference papers, supervised 30 undergrad students, 5 masters students and 1 PhD student, and obtained a silver medal award for best paper at Malaysia-Indonesia Geopolymer Symposium (2015). Monita was a Chief in Editor of Faculty’s scientific jurnal: Jurnal Sains dan Teknologi (2005-2015) and technical editor of Jurnal Natur Indonesia (2002-2004). She has been a reviewer of the Construction and Building Materials, Materials and Design, Journal of Clear Production (Elsevier), and Journal of Solid Waste and Technology (Widener University USA) since 2012. Her other research interests are internationalization and gender equality in higher education (funded by DAAD, Germany).
